The American University of Science & Technology (AUST) is a private non-sectarian institution of higher learning, licensed by Lebanese Presidential Decree number 677. The University strives to provide top-level education at moderate costs to avail needy students of opportunities to receive American-style education. The institution adopts the ideas and thinking of its founders who believe that each individual should be given a chance to realize his/her potentials through a university-level training that is not prohibitively expensive or exclusive.
The present-day American University of Science & Technology began in 1989 under the name “The American Universal College”. In August 2000, the name was changed to American University College of Science & Technology as per Presidential Decree# 3585/2000. As of August 2007, the present name of American University of Science & Technology was confirmed as per Presidential Decree # 677/2007.
The Decree granted AUST a well-deserved university status with permission to offer programs leading to bachelor's and master's degrees in four academic faculties (Schools). These are:
Faculty of Arts & Sciences (FAS)Faculty of Business & Economics (FBE)Faculty of Engineering (FOE)Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS)In conformity with the prevailing laws of Lebanon, all academic programs offered at AUST have been submitted for accreditation and equivalency by the Lebanese Higher Education Equivalence Committee, and all have been duly accredited.The Bachelor of Science degree program in Computer Science at AUST (Beirut Campus) is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of ABET.The Bachelor of Science degree programs in Computer and Communications Engineering, and Computer and Communications Engineering with Minors in Biomedical Engineering and Biomedical Sciences at AUST (Beirut Campus) are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET.The business programs are accredited by the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) for the Bachelor of Science degree and the Master of Business Administration degree. AUST has received institutional accreditation from Evalag for a period of 5 years until September 30, 2023.AUST’s commitment to international human understanding has led it to establish i) an extensive network of affiliations; and, ii) exchange and cooperation agreements with over 40 international universities in USA, Europe, Canada and the Middle East. Consequently, offering to the Lebanese and foreign students unique cross-cultural study opportunities; and, the faculty substantial research possibilities. The list of affiliations is available on the University website www.aust.edu.lb AUST follows the American credit-based system. Students can enroll in the fall semester (October), spring semester (February), or summer term (June). Each of the fall and spring semesters is of a 15-week duration. The summer term is of a 5-week duration. All instruction is in English in the English Section of the Institution, and in French in the French Section.
